My Story

After high school I attended Pasadena City College for about a year.  My father changed jobs, so off to Michigan City, Indiana we went.  After 6 months I moved to Dearborn Heights, Michigan where I got a job typing orders for Westinghouse Electric Supply.

I met my husband Jim after he started working for Westinghouse.  I lived in Michigan for about 3 years and then moved back to Eagle Rock.  Just before leaving, Jim and I were engaged.  Six months later Jim came out to Calif. and we were married in Pasadena on Sept. 7, 1968.  We decided that living in Michigan was the best option at the time since he was an only child and did not want to leave his job and family.  We had hoped to move back to Calif., but by then it was too expensive to live there.

So, we have been married 41 years and have 1 daughter, 2 sons, and 4 grandchildren. We live in Madison Heights, Michigan with our oldest, Karen, and her 3 children. Steve is 37 and single. Scott is 27 and a new dad to Aluna born on July 25, 2009. They live in New Mexico.

When my two oldest children were in school they were in band, so that quickly took over my life.  Band mom to the core. Both started in 5th grade and went on to finish in high school. Band competitions were a weekly event so off in the bus I went to each one.  Had a bit of a down time until granddaughters got involved with Little League Cheerleading and then band took over my life again.  This time I just go and watch, but it is fun to watch them.  So along with dance team and band competitions I go and watch, take pictures until March, then it ends and quickly starts up again in Sept. Grandkids take up my life just as quickly as my own did, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was a secretary at the hospital for 23 year.  I worked in various departments over the years,  the last one for about 16 years. I enjoyed my job very much and enjoyed the people that I worked with and met over the years. I worked in a couple of other jobs before the hospital, but became a stay at home mom for over 10 years before working at the hospital. When the Disney Store opened at the mall by my house I began working there along with my full time job. The Disney Store is what I have always called my fun job. You get to play with the kids and show the MAGIC of Mickey Mouse.

I retired from the hospital and now work part-time at the Disney Store and will be celebrating 15 years next month.

Over the years I have picked up many hobbies. Sewing was the first.  I made my clothes while I was at Franklin. I love crafting, cross stitching, have done some knitting, Tole painting and other things as they have come along.

Love to go to the movies with friends and family. Mostly sappy stuff and Disney, no scary movies.

I missed the reunion both times. I had just married and moved to Michigan when the first reunion happened.  I had just been out there visiting in May when the second one occurred. I just could not make a second trip at that time. Would have loved to have been there.  I sure hope I will be able to make it to the next one.
