My StoryAfter graduation, I went to work for the City of Los Angeles and spent most of my career at the Department of Water and Power where I met my husband Ron. We have been married since 1970 and have two sons (Rion and Reid) and one granddaughter (Sivani Tessa). In the late nineties, we both took early retirement from the DWP. I continued to work as a free-lance writer for a private engineering firm for several years but am now happily retired. Ron and I have lived in Glendale, California for over 30 years, not far from where we both grew up. We enjoy traveling and seeing solar eclipses around the world. Our travels have taken us to 40 countries so far. We plan to continue traveling as long as possible. In my free time, I enjoy working in the garden, reading, going to movies, stage plays, concerts, museums and gardens. My favorite pastime is being with family and friends. I am a volunteer at the L.A. Braille Institute and other local organizations. Over the years, I have kept up with several school friends and always enjoy sharing stories with them. It’s always fun to run across a Franklin grad. There are many who have crossed my path since graduation. ![]() The Merlos 2010 |
